Hiring a Professional Carpet Cleaning in Pensacola

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Selecting a carpet cleaning company isn’t easy.  There are over 60 carpet cleaning companies in the Pensacola surrounding area.  Many of them are part-time business owners who operate out of their car.  The real delima is finding the right cleaning company.

Here are 4 tips to choosing the right company.

1.  Do they have good references?  Check with the better business bureau or call the company directly for references.

2.  Are they well educated in their field?  Consider hiring a company certified by the IICRC or the institute of inspection cleaning and restoration certification.  Without proper training, your cleaning job could end in disaster.

3.  Do they have insurance?  Beleive it or not, 80% of the cleaning companies in Pensacola DO NOT have workman’s compensation or liability insurance.  If something goes wrong in your home or business, YOU could held liable or responsible to fix their mistakes.

4.  Do they have a strong guarantee?  Only hire a company with a 100% guarantee.  If any spots return after cleaning, you want to make sure they’ll come back to your home at no charge.

If you follow all these tips you’ll have a lot better chance in succeeding at hiring a professional cleaning company.

Below is a video that gives you more information about how to hire a Pensacola area carpet cleaning company.

Hurricanes are Clear- Pensacola is Almost Out of the Woods

Friday, September 19th, 2008

We’re almost out of the woods this year.  I’m not holding my breath.  But I’ve got hopes that we’ll make it another few weeks weeks without getting trappled by yet another “near miss.”

These near misses are what hurts our business.  Everyone waits to get their carpet and tile cleaned while they sit with baited breath watching the hurricane in the Gulf.  They’re more worried about if their home is going to be okay.  Their floors are the least of their concern.

So what will happen is, as soon as hurricane season is over, we’ll get trampled with calls.  So if you’ve been thinking about book an appointment, CALL NOW.  Very soon we’ll be booked up for two weeks solid.

Gustav Is a Wimp

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Hurricane Gustav isn’t even that big from what it looks like on radar.  I remember Ivan and Katrinina–those monsters took up the entire Gulf.  Then we had Dennis.  Dennis had powerful winds, but it was small like Gustav.  Sure Dennis did some major damage, but it was in a small area.

So again, that backs up my theory that we have nothing to worry about.

I just hope that I’m not egging Gustav on by blogging about this.  Hurricanes are a force to be reckoned with.

Tropical Storm Fay Comes To Pensacola

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Batten down the hatches.  Here it comes.

Okay, for native Pensacolans, a tropical storm really isn’t a big deal.  Sure it will bring lots of rain and some winds.  And it may even spawn a few small tornados.  Actually, now that I think about it, I had a roof blow off in a rental home I own during one of our last tropical storms when a tornado spawned.  So, maybe it can be a big deal.

Don’t freak out.  Tropical storms aren’t usually that bad.

The main thing you need to be concerned about is the rain.  Rain can leak in your roof or rise into your home.  If it does, we’re here for you.

We offer full scale water damage restoration.  We can try out any water problem you have in your home.  Call us right away at 474-1133

We’ll perform a moisture inspection and show you exactly where the moisture exists inside your walls and ceiling.  Then, we’ll dry your home or office out to prevent mold growth.

If you don’t take a tropical storm seriously, at least take the threat of rain seriously.

Sincerely,

John Braun

Which Carpet Cleaning Spotters Are Safe?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

There are many cleaning agents you can choose for carpet and rugs.  There are hundreds of different products all claiming to be the best.  So which ones are safe? I’m sure you’re concerned about the safety of your carpet.  But even greater, you’re concerned about the safety of your family.

I’ll give you the basics on both.

NEVER use this on carpet or rugs…

First, chlorine bleach products should NEVER be used on carpet or rugs.  This is one of the chemicals that’s not only harmful to the fiber, but also harmful to the person applying the chemical.  Bleach is much more harmful than most people think. Did you know some cleaning agents could actually cause a stain to be permanent?  For instance, some high PH spot removers can cause a pet stain to permanently set into a fiber?

To make sure you’re applying the right cleaning agent, use a neutral PH spotter.  Or, choose a spot removal agent designed specifically to treat pet stains. Many types of carpet cleaning shampoo can leave a sticky, soil-attracting residue in the fiber.  In particular, the types of shampoo that foam up and are scrubbed into the fiber are the worst culprits.  These cleaning agents are often laced with “optical brighteners” to temporarily make the fibers look better.  But in the long run, they ruin the fibers.  And even worse, the soil that accumulates isn’t good for your indoor environment. Keep the use of solvents to a minimum.

There are indeed some solvents that may be used to remove oils in extreme soil instances.  These include amyl acetate (in nail polish remover), rubbing alcohol, and odor-less mineral spirits.  But be WARNED!  These solvents should be used at a minimum.  After cleaning, the area should be rinsed with water and extracted.

Are professional cleaning agents safe?

Some are.  The most dangerous equation here is typically the technician cleaning your carpet.  If the technician in your home is poorly trained, you could be in for trouble. It is suspected the disease Kawasaki Syndrome has been brought on by improper carpet cleaning methods.  The disease affects small children.  This is suspected to sometimes occur by the use of an excessive amount of high PH cleaning agents followed by very little rinsing of the fibers.  Many cheap portable cleaning machines can’t rinse high PH cleaning agents properly. For your utmost safety, we always clean your carpet with the safest cleaning agents possible.

After cleaning, we make sure your carpet is left in a PH balanced state.  We use some of the best professional grade equipment available.  In addition, our technicians are FANATICS about rinsing your carpet. Our technicians understand the importance of rinsing and performing extra dry passes to insure your carpet dries quickly.  This is safer for your family and also prevents the possibility of spots returning later
